Open to Everything and attach to nothing
by Dr. Wayne Dyer
The principle of “open to everything and attach to nothing” is basically trying to open our mind to new thinking and new ideas from other people and do not reject or against the ideas that we feel strange, just listen and get the ideas and say “Oh, it is an interesting idea, I’ve never heard of that before”. Get the idea and do not attach to that or act based on that. We do not need to believe in the idea or take any actions, just hear the ideas, opening our mind.
Example of this can be when someone said something like “cancer can be cured by going for a walk in the forest.” Then, you just say that “Oh! that is an interesting idea, I’ve never heard of that”. That should be possible, because of the same case of the placebo effect, which a fake medicine of sugar pill. The patients are asked to take the fake medicine but told that it is a new medicine for curing cancer. The patients took the pills and eventually cured the diseases. That can be the case. Therefore, the principle of “Open to everything and attach to nothing” is so crucial, especially in social interaction with other people, but we do not attach to the idea, not believe or taking actions based on the ideas.
